Preseason games are built for tune-ups, but one Minnesota Wild fan turned Saturday’s exhibition against the Chicago Blackhawks at Grand Casino Arena into his own highlight-reel moment.
Center-Ice Shot Sends Fan to the Season-Ticket List
Colin was selected from the stands for a chance to win Wild season tickets during the game. His assignment was straightforward on paper and much tougher in practice: shoot from center ice and send the puck into a target almost completely covered by a board.
- The net was blocked off across its full face.
- Only a puck-sized opening remained near the bottom middle of the target.
- Colin had to score from center ice to claim the prize.
Wearing a green alternate Joel Eriksson Ek jersey, jeans and sneakers, Colin settled the puck, added a little stickhandling, and put his shot through the small opening.
A Celebration Worthy of the Bench
The building erupted when the puck found its way home, and Colin did not waste the moment. He dropped into a one-knee glide through the faceoff circle, pulled off a glove-drag-style celebration, then popped up and jumped into the boards.
It was a clean finish, a memorable celly and the kind of preseason entertainment that will be hard for anyone else in the arena to top. The Wild fan earned the season tickets; after that display, he also made a pretty convincing case for a professional tryout invite.
