Colombe Jacobsen-Derstine Watches Ducks-Rangers Game at MSG

Julie “The Cat” Gaffney was back in Ducks colors at Madison Square Garden on Monday, even if this time she was watching from the seats instead of guarding the crease.

Colombe Jacobsen-Derstine, who played the goaltender in the second and third films of the 1990s Mighty Ducks trilogy, attended the Anaheim Ducks’ game against the New York Rangers with her children, Xander and Delphine.

The family arrived in Anaheim sweaters carrying Gaffney nameplates, a fitting callback to the fictional goalie’s place in Ducks lore.

Delphine wore an original Team USA jersey used in “D2: The Mighty Ducks.” It was the same style connected to the film’s climactic championship sequence, when Gaffney delivered the winning save.

Jacobsen-Derstine portrayed Gaffney in “D2: The Mighty Ducks” and “D3: The Mighty Ducks,” playing the netminder known as “The Cat.”
