Como Extend Douvikas Contract to 2031 Amid Growing Premier League Interest

Como have moved to protect one of the defining figures of their rise, extending Anastasios “Tasos” Douvikas until 2031 as interest from England begins to gather again.

The Greek centre-forward, who turned 27 on 2 August, had originally been tied to the club through 2029. President Mirwan Suwarso has acted early, giving Como two further years of security around a striker whose importance has grown sharply on the shores of Lake Como.

Quick facts

  • Como signed Douvikas from Celta Vigo on 3 February 2025 for €11 million.
  • The club now value the Greece international at no less than three times that fee.
  • He scored 14 league goals last season, with only one coming from the penalty spot.
  • Among foreign players, only Serie A leading scorer Lautaro Martinez scored more.
  • Douvikas has eight goals in his first 11 matches this season: five in Serie A and three in the Champions League.
  • His new Como contract runs until 2031.

When Como identified Douvikas in La Liga, the numbers he would later produce in Italy were not yet apparent. In Galicia, his scoring record did not suggest the level of output that has followed since his arrival.

That has changed decisively under Cesc Fabregas. Douvikas has become the finishing point for Como’s attacking work, while his understanding with Nico Paz, Martin Baturina and Assane Diao has given the side a settled attacking reference.

His 14-goal league campaign placed him immediately among the division’s most productive overseas forwards. The detail that just one was a penalty also underlined how much of his return came from open play and his place at the heart of Como’s forward line.

This season has begun in the same vein. Five Serie A goals and three more in Europe have carried Douvikas to eight across all competitions after 11 appearances, reinforcing the view inside the club that his transfer fee now looks modest.

Premier League attention had already surfaced during the summer, without persuading the player to leave. With that noise returning, Como have chosen continuity rather than waiting for the market to dictate the next step.

The renewal is therefore more than a contractual update. It is another indication of a club planning beyond a single good season, keeping hold of a forward who has earned the supporters’ approval and who now stands central to the next chapter of Fabregas’ Como.
