In Fürth, where Greuther Fürth’s academy sits within one of Germany’s established football regions, a young left-back with family ties stretching from Germany to Romania and Mexico is beginning the next stage of his development. Constantin Sánchez, born in 2010, is part of the club’s Under-17 set-up and is eligible to represent Mexico through his father.

Sánchez has joined Greuther Fürth’s youth structure after earlier spells with SC Feucht and SGV Nürnberg-Fürth. It was during his time at SGV Nürnberg-Fürth that he began to stand out before being picked up by Fürth, whose senior side competes in Germany’s second tier.
Playing at left-back, Sánchez is continuing his education in the German academy system at the age of 16. The position is one of particular demand in the modern game, and his progress at Fürth will determine how quickly he can establish himself beyond youth football.
Although he was born in Germany, Sánchez has a Romanian mother and Mexican father, giving him the prospect of holding three nationalities. His paternal connection makes him eligible for Mexico, alongside the options available through his birth and maternal background.
That eligibility places him on the wider radar for Mexico’s youth national-team programme. Mexico have increasingly looked towards players developing abroad who have dual or multiple nationality, and Sánchez’s pathway in Germany gives the federation another possible option to monitor.
For Andrés Lillini and Mexico’s youth-team department, the defender is a player to follow rather than an immediate senior international prospect. His career remains at an early stage, but his left-sided role and training environment at Greuther Fürth could make him a candidate for future youth call-ups if his development continues.
