Copa del Rey First Round: Dates, Format and Key Knockout Ties

Spain’s Copa del Rey opens its first knockout round from Tuesday 27 October to Thursday 29 October, sending clubs from across the country into single-match ties against opponents from different levels of the pyramid.

Although the focus is domestic rather than continental, the format brings the familiar pressure of a knockout week: one evening, one result and no margin for a poor start. For the smaller hosts, it is a chance to extend a cup run; for the higher-division visitors, an early exit would reshape the week immediately.

Quick facts

  • The opening round runs from 27 to 29 October.
  • Matches will be shown by regional broadcasters, digital services and selected Movistar Plus+ coverage.
  • Aragón TV, TV Canaria, Esport3, À Punt, IB3, TPA7, CMM, Betevé and FANPLAY TV are among the outlets carrying games.
  • Aragón Play and participating regional broadcasters’ streaming services will provide online viewing where they hold rights.

The opening night schedule includes Cuarte against Girona at 18:30 on Aragón Play, while Calamocha face Europa at 19:00, available through Aragón Play and Barcelona channel Betevé. Manresa v Sant Andreu follows at 19:30 on Esport3.

At 20:00, RSD Alcalá meet Las Palmas on TV Canaria, before Atlético Paso host Córdoba at 21:00, also on TV Canaria.

Peña Sport v Huesca is scheduled for 19:00 with Aragón TV and Aragón Play coverage. Utebo against Sabadell begins at the same time and is available on Aragón Play.

Numancia host Oviedo at 20:00 on TPA7. Alcoyano v Mallorca, also kicking off at 20:00, will be carried by À Punt and IB3, while Badajoz against Tenerife is on TV Canaria.

Calvo Sotelo play Albacete at 20:00 with CMM showing the tie. Xerez meet Cádiz at 21:00 on FANPLAY TV, and Guijuelo’s match against Sporting starts at 20:00 on TPA7.

The regional spread of the broadcasts reflects a round built around local grounds and clubs, with viewers able to follow eligible matches through the relevant digital platforms as well as television coverage.
