“Following the national-team coach’s press conference and a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, I have decided to leave the national team’s training camp,” Ronaldo said.

The Portuguese all-time leading scorer did not disclose the circumstances behind his exit or expand on any disagreement surrounding the camp. He said, however, that he intends to address Portugal supporters in due course.
Ronaldo said he would eventually tell the country’s fans the full reasons that led him to step away from a national side to which, he stressed, he has always been committed.
For now, the forward turned his attention to the players remaining with Portugal for their forthcoming fixtures. “This is the time to wish Portugal and all my team-mates good luck,” he said.
His immediate absence leaves Portugal preparing for the next stage of the international window without its captain, while the explanation for his departure remains pending.
