Dani Carvajal Close to Joining Getafe After Real Madrid Exit

Madrid’s southern suburbs could be the next stop for Dani Carvajal, with the veteran Spain international reportedly nearing a move to Getafe after leaving Real Madrid in June.

The 34-year-old right-back has been without a club since his departure from the European champions. Talks with Getafe have advanced quickly in recent days, with an agreement said to be in place between the player and the club.

Quick facts

  • Dani Carvajal has been a free agent since leaving Real Madrid in June.
  • The 34-year-old is close to joining Getafe.
  • He has won 52 caps for Spain.
  • La Liga financial regulations remain the final barrier to completing the transfer.
  • Getafe will be able to register and announce him once approval is granted.

Carvajal’s proposed arrival is not yet official because Getafe must first clear La Liga’s financial control process. That approval is required before the club can register the defender for competition.

There is no suggestion that the deal itself has collapsed. The regulatory sign-off is understood to be the remaining step, leaving Carvajal close to returning to Spanish football after his long Real Madrid spell.

If the registration is authorised, Getafe will add a vastly experienced defender to their ranks. Carvajal brings 52 international appearances for Spain and years of top-level experience into a side based just south of the capital.
