Speaking at Barcelona’s general assembly on Saturday, Deco said Raphinha had agreed terms on a new contract after discussions concluded between Friday and Saturday.
The sporting director initially indicated that the winger would be tied to the club until 2029, before adding that the agreement would cover the next four seasons. Administrative formalities still need to be completed.
Raphinha’s existing contract runs until 2028, making the planned extension a significant retention for Barcelona. The 29-year-old has become captain and is in exceptional scoring form, with nine goals from six La Liga appearances.
He also struck twice in Barcelona’s opening Champions League match, a 5-1 win over Feyenoord.
