Valencia’s rebuilding project has acquired a new American layer, with Greg and Carrie Penner entering the club through Penner Sports Group as minority investors. The move comes during a difficult autumn at Mestalla, where results have left Valencia deep in the lower reaches of LaLiga.
The Penners, owners of the NFL’s Denver Broncos, have expanded their sporting interests into Spanish football with the investment. Penner Sports Group earlier became the largest minority shareholder in Major League Baseball’s Colorado Rockies, adding another franchise to its growing portfolio.
Quick facts
- Greg and Carrie Penner have made a minority investment in Valencia through Penner Sports Group.
- Singaporean majority owner Peter Lim recently sold 42 per cent of the club to Pitchwise Holdings.
- Lim remains Valencia’s controlling shareholder despite the sale.
- Pitchwise is led by sports-industry executives Ann Rodriguez and Corey Woolfolk.
- Valencia are 19th in the 2026/27 LaLiga table with six points from 10 matches.
The Penner involvement follows a separate shift in Valencia’s ownership structure. Peter Lim has transferred a 42 per cent stake to Pitchwise Holdings, a United States-based consortium made up of family offices and institutional investors with a long-term outlook.
Pitchwise is headed by Ann Rodriguez and Corey Woolfolk, both experienced figures from the sports business. Valencia have described the consortium’s position as a significant minority holding, while Lim retains the majority of the shares.
The news has arrived shortly after another painful league result. Valencia were beaten 2-1 by Villarreal after conceding late, a defeat that marked Vasco Aguirre’s first loss in charge and left the Mexican coach still searching for his first victory.
After 10 rounds of the 2026/27 campaign, Valencia have managed one win, three draws and six defeats. Their six-point return has dropped them to 19th place, placing the club’s changing boardroom picture alongside an increasingly urgent battle on the pitch.
