Dylan Garand shines as Rangers rout Canucks after Shesterkin injury

Dylan Garand stepped into the crease two days after the Rangers lost Igor Shesterkin to a season-ending knee injury and gave New York a steady 19-save night in a 6-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday at Madison Square Garden.

The 24-year-old goaltender helped the Rangers secure their fifth victory of the season, turning aside 19 shots as New York put six goals on the board against Vancouver.

After the horn

Garand’s start came with Shesterkin sidelined for the remainder of the campaign because of a knee injury. The Rangers needed a composed performance in net, and Garand supplied it while New York handled the Canucks by four goals at the Garden.
