Defensive turnover creates camp competition
Philadelphia lost substantial experience from a defense that started several veterans during its Super Bowl run. Josh Sweat, Oren Burks, Darius Slay and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson are no longer on the roster, while Milton Williams departed and Brandon Graham retired.
Those six players accounted for 4,070 combined snaps across the regular season and playoffs. Replacing that production and leadership is a significant task, even for general manager Howie Roseman and Fangio.

The Eagles are expected to be cautious with Barkley during camp and the preseason, limiting unnecessary work for their featured back. One possible exception could be the Aug. 13 joint practice with Cleveland.

Patullo was promoted after Kellen Moore left Philadelphia shortly after the Super Bowl victory to become head coach of the New Orleans Saints. Although the Eagles retain offensive continuity on the field, Patullo will be the fourth offensive coordinator under head coach Nick Sirianni in four seasons.
