In Lisbon, Claudio Echeverri made an immediate contribution from the bench as Benfica completed a 2-0 league victory over Vitória Guimarães in the eighth round of the Portuguese championship.
The former River Plate player entered during the second half and supplied the assist for Benfica’s second goal, the strike that settled the contest and secured the final margin against the visitors from Guimarães.
It was a decisive late involvement for Echeverri, whose delivery helped Benfica close out the match with a clean-sheet win in the domestic campaign.
