Fabregas Questions Italy’s Handling of Kean Injury Before Roma Clash

Como return to Serie A duty against Roma without Moise Kean, and Cesc Fabregas has used the eve of the sixth-round meeting to question how the forward’s injury was handled during the international break.

Kean, born in 2000, will not be available for the match after suffering what Fabregas described as a significant knock in Italy’s first game against Belgium. Despite that blow, the striker then completed another 90 minutes against France. An MRI scan carried out on Thursday confirmed the problem, leaving Como without him for an estimated week to 10 days.

Fabregas did not conceal his frustration with the communication between the Italian Football Federation and the club. “He took an important hit in the first match and then played another 90 minutes,” the Como coach said. “Now we lose him for seven to 10 days. Communication between the Federation and the club can be improved.”

The absence arrives at an awkward moment for Como, who are looking to reset their league campaign after the defeat to Frosinone before the break. Roma’s visit is another demanding test, but Fabregas framed it as an opportunity for his side to remain faithful to the approach they have tried to establish since his arrival.

Respect for Roma, but Como want a response

Fabregas spoke warmly of Roma and their coach, describing Sunday’s opponents as a side deserving considerable respect. “It will be an important match against a very great coach, someone we know very well,” he said. “We have great respect for what they do.”

That respect will not alter Como’s intention to compete. Fabregas said his team will try to produce a strong display and play the game in the manner that has defined their work so far. Without Kean, the challenge is greater, but the meeting with Roma gives Como a chance to turn the page after Frosinone and begin the next stretch of the season with a more positive afternoon.
