Felix Keidel is set for a first Germany call-up after only three Bundesliga matches for promoted SV Elversberg.
The sporting fact
The 23-year-old from Duisburg is expected in Jürgen Klopp’s squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures. The official squad announcement is scheduled for Thursday at 10am.
Keidel joined Elversberg from FC Ingolstadt in 2025, moving from the third tier into the 2. Bundesliga. He made 25 appearances during Elversberg’s promotion campaign, with 13 starts.
Most of those starts came before the winter break. Jan Gyamerah later took over at right-back, leaving Keidel mainly among the substitutes. He was not included in the matchday squad twice late in the season.
The Bundesliga has brought a different role. Keidel has started four competitive matches this term, including the DFB-Pokal win in his hometown, and has been used as a defensive midfielder. He has two assists and one goal, with an average match rating of 3.17.
His first Bundesliga goal came in Elversberg’s 4-3 win at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Ten minutes before full time, he levelled at 3-3 with a free-kick from just over 18 metres, struck from the left channel into the top-left corner.
Keidel has never played for a Germany youth team. He could now make his first international appearance alongside established squad figures such as Marc-André ter Stegen and Said El Mala.
Next Spieltag
Germany’s Nations League programme includes the Netherlands on 24 September, Greece on 27 September and 4 October, and Serbia on 1 October.
