Fiorentina will have to manage the next part of their league campaign without Marin Pongracic after examinations confirmed a muscle injury suffered in the match against Inter.
The defender was forced off during the Serie A meeting with Inter and underwent clinical and instrumental tests on the following morning. The assessments found a myofascial lesion involving the long head of the biceps femoris in his right thigh.
Rehabilitation already under way
Pongracic has begun the treatment and rehabilitation programme set out by Fiorentina’s medical staff. His condition will be reviewed again over the coming weeks.
The expected recovery period is around two weeks, making a return before the international break unlikely. For Fiorentina, it creates another selection issue in a period when every league fixture carries weight, with the coaching staff now required to assess their defensive options without the Croatian.
