The Flyers are carrying a crowded medical board into Monday night, with Tyson Foerster and Sean Couturier both uncertain for the home date against the Colorado Avalanche.
- Foerster is a game-time call after taking a Drake Batherson shot in the right hand/wrist area during Saturday’s 3-1 win against the Ottawa Senators. He missed the final 3:59 of the opening period, returned for the second, and did not practice Sunday.
- Couturier did not skate Sunday and is also a game-time decision. Coach Rick Tocchet said the center was “banged up a little” in the Ottawa game.
- Owen Tippett missed Saturday with an upper-body injury and was absent from Sunday’s practice, putting his availability against Colorado in doubt.
- Travis Konecny remains on injured reserve with a lower-body injury.
- Defensemen Rasmus Ristolainen and Cam York are also on injured reserve, each sidelined by an upper-body injury.
- Toronto forward John Tavares is week to week with a lower-body injury. He was hurt in Thursday’s 5-4 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres after colliding with Josh Norris early in the third period.
- Tavares stayed down for roughly 90 seconds before skating off with a trainer. He had two assists in that game and owns seven points, including two goals, through seven games.
- Edmonton forward Zach Hyman returned Saturday from a six-game absence due to an undisclosed injury and scored in a 6-2 victory against the Utah Mammoth.
- Oilers forward Colton Dach returned from four missed games, recording three shots in 16:52 against Utah.
- Edmonton defenseman Jake Walman was plus-1 in 16:34 after sitting out three games.
What it means for Flyers-Avalanche
Philadelphia hosts Colorado on Monday at 7 p.m. ET, and Tocchet may not know his full forward group until warmups. Foerster’s ability to handle the puck and Couturier’s condition after Saturday’s game will be key late checks. Tippett remains another question after missing the Senators win.
The Flyers have already been operating without Konecny, Ristolainen and York. More absences would further test a roster that has been hit by injuries in rapid succession.
“We’re in that stretch right now where we’re getting injuries,” Tocchet said. “It’s hard. I don’t know if they’re playing tomorrow. It’s one of those things. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow.”
Toronto is dealing with its own veteran absence. Tavares had been producing before the collision in Buffalo, and coach Jim Hiller noted the added strain with defenseman Chris Tanev already unavailable.
“John was playing well,” Hiller said. “That’s a tough one for us, especially with Tanev out too. They are two veteran players, so you have to find a way.”
