At the Stade de France, France will close a three-week international window with a familiar rival waiting under the lights: Belgium.
The Ligue 1 news
France face Belgium in the fourth round of the Nations League, meeting their neighbours for the second time during this break.
The fixture will be the 80th between the countries since their first encounter in 1904. Their record remains perfectly level after 79 matches, with 30 victories apiece and 19 draws. A French win would therefore put Les Bleus ahead of Belgium for the first time in the overall head-to-head count.
France won the first game of this international period 1-0. Zinedine Zidane’s side controlled much of the ball and produced a high number of attempts, but struggled to turn that dominance into a goal.
Michael Olise eventually settled the contest in the 88th minute, scoring a late winner that prompted an emphatic celebration from the France coach.
France v Belgium at the Stade de France
Zidane is expected to make fewer changes for the return meeting. Nine regular starters were absent from his initial XI in the earlier match, but France are likely to field a more familiar-looking team for their final Nations League fixture of the break.
The full Nations League schedule will be available on La Chaîne L’Équipe and L’Équipe live foot.
