Chicago Blackhawks forward Frank Nazar will miss the next two games after the NHL suspended him without pay for an illegal check to the head of New York Islanders forward Bo Horvat.
Discipline from the Oct. 8 game in New York
- The hit occurred with 1:35 remaining in the third period of Thursday’s game between Chicago and the Islanders, NHL Game No. 62 in New York.
- Nazar was given a match penalty at 18:25 of the final frame for the check on Horvat.
- The NHL Department of Player Safety issued a two-game suspension for the head contact.
- Because the ban is without pay, Nazar will lose $68,041.14 based on his average annual salary under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- The forfeited salary will be directed to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
The Blackhawks will have to fill Nazar’s spot in the forward group for two games as the suspension is served.
