FC Porto Target Eighth Straight Liga Portugal Win at Marítimo

Funchal’s Estádio dos Barreiros will frame a sharp contrast in starts to the Portuguese season on Saturday, when FC Porto travel to Marítimo seeking an eighth straight Liga Portugal Betclic win.

The Matchday 8 fixture is scheduled for 10 October 2026, with kick-off at 11:00am Central Mexico time. Viewers in Mexico can follow the game through Claro Sports on YouTube and Claro Sports Premium.

Porto arrive on Madeira with a flawless seven-match league record: 21 points from 21, enough to place Francesco Farioli’s side at the summit. Their momentum was reinforced by victory over Benfica in O Clássico, a result that strengthened the Dragons’ early command of the title race.

Porto pursue another perfect result

Farioli’s team have combined a reliable collective structure with attacking productivity over the opening rounds, and a win in Funchal would preserve their 100 per cent record while keeping the chasing pack at arm’s length.

Mexico forward Santiago Giménez is among Porto’s attacking options for the trip. Whether he starts or is used from the bench will depend on Farioli’s final selection for a match in which the visitors carry the stronger recent form.

Marítimo look to use home ground

Marítimo, coached by Mitchell van der Gaag, begin the weekend in 11th place on eight points. The Madeira club need improved results to move closer to the upper half of the table after a difficult sequence of matches.

With Porto arriving as league leaders, the hosts will try to turn familiar surroundings at the Barreiros into an advantage and punish any opening offered by the visitors. The central question is whether Porto can extend their winning run to eight, or whether Marítimo can become the first side to interrupt their perfect domestic start.
