Gian Piero Gasperini has described Roma as a demanding football city, while expressing satisfaction with the work done by his side after the 2-2 draw against Inter.
The decision
Speaking during the international break at an evening arranged by Roma for their commercial partners at the Relais Appia Antica, Gasperini reflected on the scale of the task in the capital.
“Is Roma a difficult place? I knew it was very demanding from a football perspective,” the coach said.
His remarks came after Roma’s most recent league fixture, a 2-2 meeting with Inter that Gasperini viewed as an encouraging spectacle rather than simply a result to be dissected.
“It was a great match,” he said. “The new rules are helping to reduce stoppages and give priority to the spectacle. We are working well and I am very pleased.”
Sunday’s picture
The draw with Inter left Roma with evidence that their work can stand up in one of the season’s more exacting league occasions. For Gasperini, the contest also reflected a wider Serie A in which efforts to limit time-wasting are intended to keep matches moving and make the football itself the central concern.
