Roma have resumed work at Trigoria with Gian Piero Gasperini overseeing a sharply reduced group during the international break, as the club balance fitness maintenance with the need to recover from recent physical problems.
Only a handful of outfield players were available for the first session back. Alongside the three goalkeepers, including Mile Svilar, Gasperini had Mario Hermoso, Nahuel Molina, Devyne Rensch, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Marten de Roon and Paulo Dybala on the pitch.
The limited numbers reflect the absences around the squad, while three players remained at the training centre for treatment. Wesley, Donyell Malen and Bryan Cristante are following individual medical programmes for their respective issues.
A short break in the schedule
Roma will continue training through Friday, with the emphasis on preserving the players’ athletic condition rather than building towards an immediate weekend fixture.
Gasperini is then expected to give his available players several days away from Trigoria. The pause is intended to allow the group to switch off, recover physically and spend time with their families before the next stage of the season begins.
