Munich’s Allianz Arena is set for a significant Nations League evening as Germany host Serbia in League A Group 2, with Jürgen Klopp seeking his first victory since taking charge of the national side.
The news from the club
Germany enter Thursday’s match under early pressure after taking only one point from their opening two fixtures. Klopp began his tenure with a 1-1 draw against the Netherlands on 24 September, in Xavi Hernández’s first game in charge of Oranje, before Greece secured a 1-0 win over the Germans on Sunday.
That defeat carried particular weight: Greece had never previously beaten Germany. The result left the hosts needing a response in their third match under Klopp, while Serbia arrive in Munich still without a point in the group.
Greece lead Group 2 with six points, followed by the Netherlands on four. Germany have one, while Serbia remain scoreless, making the meeting important for both countries’ hopes of staying in contention.
The match will be played at the Allianz Arena, a stadium with a capacity of around 75,000, where a large crowd is expected. Norway’s Espen Eskas will referee, with Portugal’s Tiago Martins assigned to VAR duties.
