Getafe Near Dani Carvajal Signing as LaLiga Talks Continue

In Madrid’s southern corridor, Getafe are working on a move that would reshape the final hours of their transfer window. Dani Carvajal is close to joining the Coliseum club, with the proposed deal now dependent on an agreement between Getafe president Ángel Torres and LaLiga.

Torres indicated that the former Real Madrid right-back has already completed his medical examination. He said negotiations remain active, adding: “We are working on it.”

Quick facts

  • Getafe are attempting to sign Dani Carvajal.
  • The operation still requires approval through an agreement with LaLiga.
  • Carvajal has undergone a medical examination for Getafe.
  • He has been without a club since leaving Real Madrid on 30 June.
  • The six-time European champion would need to accept a substantial salary reduction.
  • Getafe face a season in LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Conference League.

José Bordalás had sought a wide player, but the club struggled to find the winger he wanted. Torres suggested Carvajal could instead provide an option as a wing-back, saying the coach had requested a player for the flank and that they hoped this alternative would suit him.

The possible arrival would bring major pedigree to a squad Bordalás has wanted expanded since pre-season. Getafe are preparing for three competitions, and the coach has repeatedly called for greater depth to manage the calendar.

Carvajal left Real Madrid at the end of June after collecting six European titles among a long list of honours at the Bernabéu. His expected wages at Getafe would be markedly lower than those of his Madrid spell.

Interest from Italy had also emerged, but those approaches did not lead to a completed move. Bordalás’ direct contact with the player is understood to have been decisive in steering him towards the Coliseum, provided the remaining LaLiga issue is resolved.
