With Bordeaux’s season still waiting in the wings, the club moved a step closer on Tuesday to returning to competitive football in Régional 1.

Girondins de Bordeaux said the control commission of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Football League had issued a favourable opinion on the club’s proposed participation in Régional 1.
The regional financial watchdog heard Bordeaux earlier in the day to examine Park Bench’s takeover plan and the funding of the budget for the coming campaign.
The decision is not yet the final confirmation of Bordeaux’s place in the regional championship. The executive committee of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine League must validate the commission’s opinion on Thursday.
If that approval is granted, Bordeaux will be cleared to take their place in Régional 1 for the season ahead.
The next appointment in France
Bordeaux are scheduled to begin their campaign on Friday 16 October at 7pm, when they face Aviron Bayonnais’ reserve side in the fifth round of the Régional 1 season.
