The 17-year-old Xolos forward marked his first senior international goal in a 1-1 draw with Colombia, cutting inside before finishing with the assurance of a far older player, and the moment has sharpened attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
A record night with Mexico
Mora was 17 years and 347 days old when he scored against Colombia, making him the youngest scorer in the history of the Mexican national team. It came only days after another landmark: Rafa Márquez had handed him Mexico’s number 10 shirt, making Mora the youngest player to wear it for the country.
Márquez, the former Barcelona defender who played at Camp Nou from 2003 to 2010 and coached Barcelona Atlètic between 2022 and 2024, has urged patience around the teenager while making clear he sees a major future ahead.

In June, Mora extended his Xolos contract until 2029. His representation is led by Rafaela Pimienta, also Erling Haaland’s agent, and the deal includes an estimated €25 million release clause for European clubs. That arrangement gives Tijuana the prospect of a substantial return should a transfer materialise as early as the winter window.
For Barcelona, should their interest become concrete, Márquez could offer an unusually familiar bridge between the Mexican teenager and the Catalan club. For now, however, Mora remains in Tijuana: a record-breaking number 10 with Mexico, and a European decision drawing nearer by the day.
