Germany left Augsburg empty-handed on Sunday night, punished for a familiar failing as Greece claimed a 1-0 Nations League victory despite spending much of the match under pressure.
Greece withstand Germany pressure
Jürgen Klopp’s Germany created a succession of openings during the second matchday but could not turn their territorial control into a goal. Joshua Kimmich and his team-mates repeatedly tested the Greek defence, only to find goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis in outstanding form.
Greece stayed compact without the ball and took the one decisive chance that came their way. Dimitrios Kourbelis struck in the 64th minute, beating Germany goalkeeper Alexander Nübel against the run of play.

The goal gave Greece the advantage their disciplined performance needed. Germany continued to push for an equaliser, but Tzolakis and the visiting back line protected the lead until the final whistle.
It was a clinical away display from Greece: resolute in defence, efficient in attack and enough to secure a surprise 1-0 win on German soil.
