On an Iraqi league evening in which Newroz found space and certainty against Al Minaa, Habib Oueslati supplied the unforgettable details. The 29-year-old Tunisian midfielder scored twice in a 2-0 victory, with each finish carrying the kind of ambition normally reserved for highlight reels.
Two extraordinary finishes in Iraq
- In the 33rd minute, Oueslati met a delivery from the right near the edge of the penalty area. After bringing the ball down on his chest, he launched an overhead kick that flew into the goalkeeper’s top-left corner.
- Before the interval, during first-half stoppage time, he doubled Newroz’s advantage from a free-kick position on the right side of the attack. His sharply struck effort bent into the far top corner.
The brace decided the tenth-round match in the Iraqi top flight, giving Newroz a 2-0 win over Al Minaa.
A finish with Puskás echoes
Oueslati’s second goal recalled the celebrated long-range free-kick scored by Malaysia’s Mohd Faiz Subri for Penang, a strike that won the FIFA Puskás Award in 2016. The Tunisian’s set-piece came from a different setting, but carried a similarly dramatic trajectory as it swept into the opposite corner.
For Oueslati, one match brought two moments that would stand out in any league: a bicycle kick from the arc of the box, followed by a curling free-kick delivered with equal precision.
