Munich moves into a quieter Sunday after another European night in which Harry Kane again supplied the decisive number. His penalty in Bayern Munich’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal carried him to a Champions League scoring run that now stretches across 10 consecutive appearances, placing the England captain one match from Cristiano Ronaldo’s singular mark.
The next continental stop has an appropriate sense of occasion: Atlético Madrid at the Metropolitano on 3 November. Should Kane score there, he will become only the second player to find the net in 11 successive Champions League matches, matching the sequence Ronaldo completed for Real Madrid in 2018.
A trail from Brussels to the Metropolitano
Kane’s current run began in the league phase last season, when he scored twice against Union Saint-Gilloise on 21 January 2026. He then struck in Bayern’s 2-1 away win at PSV eight days later, before the knockout rounds supplied goals against Atalanta, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Against Atalanta, Kane scored twice in Bayern’s 4-1 round-of-16 victory on 18 March. He followed with one goal in each leg of the dramatic quarter-final against Real Madrid: a 2-1 win in Spain on 7 April and a 4-3 home success eight days later. Bayern’s semi-final against PSG ended in elimination, but Kane scored in both legs, a 5-4 defeat in Paris on 28 April and a 2-1 loss in Munich on 6 May.
The new campaign has continued without interruption. Kane scored once in the 5-0 league-phase win over Bodø/Glimt on 10 September, twice in the 3-3 draw at Viking on 13 October, and then converted from the spot against Arsenal on 21 October. Every Champions League match in which he has appeared since the Union Saint-Gilloise fixture has brought him a goal.
Ronaldo’s benchmark was built across two seasons with Real Madrid. It began with two goals against Juventus in the 2016-17 final, then continued the following season through two meetings each with APOEL, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham, PSG and Juventus. His streak ended when he did not score in the semi-final against Bayern.
Kane has now accumulated 58 Champions League goals in 73 appearances, a return just short of 0.8 per game. He has played in nine editions of the competition since 2016, missing the 2020-21 and 2021-22 campaigns. The total places him eighth in the tournament’s all-time scoring list.
Only Ronaldo, with 140, Lionel Messi on 129, Robert Lewandowski with 109, Karim Benzema on 90, Kylian Mbappé on 73, Raúl González on 71 and Erling Haaland on 61 remain ahead of him. Of those seven, only Mbappé and Haaland are involved in this season’s Champions League.
The Arsenal goal also took Kane to 16 goals in 15 matches during 2026-27, a count that includes his England outings in the Nations League. Before the Madrid journey, Bayern return to domestic duty against Freiburg on Sunday, with Kane carrying a European pursuit that has become one of the season’s most compelling threads.
