Hockey Fights Cancer Takes Center Stage During NHL Frozen Frenzy

Hockey Fights Cancer opens its NHL season on Oct. 13 with a full 16-game slate, putting every one of the League’s 32 clubs on the ice during Frozen Frenzy.

  • Frozen Frenzy is carrying Hockey Fights Cancer stories across ESPN2, Disney+ and the ESPN App in the United States.
  • The event marks the third consecutive season in which Frozen Frenzy has highlighted the League-wide cancer initiative and collected support for the V Foundation.
  • Hockey Fights Cancer and the V Foundation are committing $100,000 to cancer research as part of the night.
  • Fans are being encouraged to contribute to the campaign throughout the season.
  • Hockey Fights Cancer-themed broadcasts will continue on Wednesday Night Hockey on Prime Video in Canada, NHL on TNT in the United States, and Saturday Night Hockey on Sportsnet in Canada.
  • Every NHL club will stage an in-arena awareness night during the season, with November again serving as the League’s main Hockey Fights Cancer month.
  • The League has also revealed its Hockey Fights Cancer champions for this season.

What it means for Stars vs. Avalanche

Dallas will bring the campaign into its own building when the Stars host the Colorado Avalanche for Hockey Fights Cancer Night. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET, with ESPN carrying the game.

It gives one of the night’s headline matchups an added focus beyond the standings: awareness, fundraising and research support under the Hockey Fights Cancer banner.
