Inter Confirm Curtis Jones Injury Blow After Medical Tests

Inter’s midfield has taken another turn as the championship resumes its autumn rhythm. Cristian Chivu has welcomed Hakan Calhanoglu back into full training, but Curtis Jones is now facing a spell on the sidelines at a demanding point in the calendar.

The 25-year-old English midfielder underwent clinical and instrumental examinations on Friday morning at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano. The tests found a myofascial problem affecting the adductors in his right thigh.

Quick facts

  • Curtis Jones has suffered a right-thigh adductor myofascial complaint.
  • The midfielder joined Inter from Liverpool during the summer.
  • His condition will be assessed again over the coming days.
  • He is expected to miss Parma’s visit to San Siro on Saturday 10 October at 18:00.
  • Inter are also managing Calhanoglu’s return after the Turkish midfielder resumed group work.

Jones is unlikely to be involved against Parma following the international break, and the expected recovery period is around 20 days. That would leave Chivu without a summer arrival just as Inter move into a sequence that will test the squad across Serie A and the Champions League.

After Parma, Inter are due to travel to Bologna on 17 October, host Club Brugge in Europe on 13 October and Shakhtar Donetsk on 21 October, then face Fiorentina on 25 October and Venezia away three days later.

The Milan derby, scheduled for 31 October, sits at the end of that stretch. Jones’s next checks will provide a clearer indication of whether he can return in time for that fixture or whether his absence will extend beyond the initial estimate.

For Chivu, Calhanoglu’s return to the group offers one encouraging development, but the situation underlines how quickly the balance can shift in the centre of the pitch. Inter enter the next chapter of their season with matches arriving rapidly and one midfield problem replaced by another.
