San Siro will host the Italian Super Cup again in December, ending a long Saudi Arabian chapter and restoring the competition to a single-match format. Inter Milan, winners of both Serie A and the Coppa Italia in 2026, will meet Lazio on 22 December in Milan.
A return to Milan after the Saudi years
The Supercoppa Italiana will be played in Italy for the first time after four consecutive editions in Saudi Arabia. Milan’s San Siro has been chosen for this year’s fixture.
The competition had spent much of the past decade abroad. Six of the last eight editions were staged in Saudi Arabia, with the sequence interrupted only by the Covid-19 crisis.
- The Italian league had moved the event to Riyadh following a partnership with Saudi Arabia.
- That agreement has now come to an end.
- No explanation has been given for the conclusion of the partnership.
- The 2026 edition will take place at San Siro in December.
Inter and Lazio set for one-off final
The Lega Serie A has also approved a change in sporting format. The four-team Final Four system has been dropped, with the Super Cup returning to a one-off final between the Serie A champions and the Coppa Italia winners.
Inter claimed a domestic league and cup double in 2026, earning their place in the match. Lazio will take the other berth after reaching the Coppa Italia final in mid-May.
- Date: 22 December
- Venue: San Siro, Milan
- Fixture: Inter Milan v Lazio
