Jacob Misiorowski will take the ball for Milwaukee in Saturday night’s NLDS opener against San Diego, but the Brewers’ hard-throwing right-hander has made it clear he is not thinking only about one start.
| NLDS Schedule | Matchup | Pitching Note |
|---|---|---|
| Game 1 — Saturday | Padres at Brewers | Jacob Misiorowski starts |
| Game 2 | Padres at Brewers | Logan Henderson starts |
| Game 3 — Tuesday | Brewers at Padres | San Diego |
| Game 4 — Wednesday, if needed | Brewers at Padres | San Diego |
| Game 5 — Friday, if needed | Padres at Brewers | Misiorowski could start |
First pitch for Game 1 is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET at American Family Field, with the series opening on FS1, FOX Deportes and FOX One.
Misiorowski was used as a high-leverage bullpen weapon for Milwaukee during last year’s NLDS against the Cubs. This October, he begins in the rotation, but the postseason calendar leaves room for a different kind of workload if the Brewers decide to get creative.
Ready for any role
Starters around the game have occasionally worked a relief inning on the day they would normally throw between starts. Miami’s Sandy Alcantara was among the most notable recent examples, recording three September saves while using those live outs in place of a regular side session.
With travel days built into this best-of-five series, a starter could influence more than his scheduled turn. Misiorowski did not leave any doubt about his willingness to pitch in whatever spot Milwaukee needs.
“Give me the ball,” Misiorowski said. “It’s that simple.”
The Brewers have named only their first two starters, with Henderson set for Game 2. Beyond that, the decisions will unfold as the series moves to San Diego. If the matchup reaches a winner-take-all Game 5, Misiorowski would be lined up to make another start Friday.
