Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was ruled out at halftime after injuring his left elbow on the final snap of the opening half against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.
What changed for the franchise
Daniels appeared to suffer the injury after taking a snap from under center. He stumbled, extended his left arm to brace his fall and remained on the turf in visible pain after his incomplete pass.
Commanders medical personnel treated the quarterback on the field before he was taken by cart to the locker room. Washington later announced that he would not return.
Veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota took over for the Commanders to begin the second half.
Before leaving the game, Daniels completed 11 of 17 passes for 96 yards and one touchdown. He also ran seven times for 69 yards.
The injury is another concern for Daniels’ left elbow. He dislocated the same elbow against the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 2, 2025, an injury that kept him out for the next three weeks.
