Jazz Chisholm Jr. brought more than a fresh set of legs back to the Yankees on Tuesday. Activated from the 10-day injured list between games of New York’s doubleheader against the Rays, the infielder returned after two weeks away and immediately gave the ballpark a moment that had nothing to do with the score.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Chisholm was in the on-deck circle when a fan seated near the front row tried to snap a quick photo through the protective netting. He spotted her, stopped what he was doing and turned to pose.
Then Chisholm added his own touch to the picture. Rather than settling for the usual ballpark selfie, he leaned toward the net and gave the fan a gentle kiss on the head, drawing an amused reaction from her.
A small moment in a doubleheader
For Chisholm, the first day back in uniform carried the usual rhythm of a return from the injured list: a long day at the park, a doubleheader and a chance to rejoin the club. But the on-deck-circle exchange showed he was enjoying the return as much as anyone in the stands.
Player photos are routine around a major league field. This one, with Chisholm’s playful extra gesture through the netting, was anything but routine.
