In Madrid, Julián Alvarez’s unsettled summer continues to leave a mark beyond the pitch. The Atlético de Madrid forward is considering a change in representation after spending his entire professional career with Fernando Hidalgo, a move that could become part of an attempt to repair relations around the club.

Alvarez has held talks with The Elegant Game, the agency founded by former Argentina international Javier Pastore. The firm also represents Enzo Fernández, a friend of the Atlético striker.
No final decision has been made, but people close to the Argentina international have reportedly raised the possibility of ending his long-standing arrangement with Hidalgo for some time. Those around the player believe his representative has not handled recent matters in the best way.
At Atlético, Hidalgo has been identified by senior figures as central to the tension surrounding Alvarez’s future. Chief executive Miguel Ángel Gil Marín said the forward had been left distressed by outside influences.
“Julián is genuinely in a bad place,” Gil Marín said. “There have been people who have deceived him and caused confusion.”
The Atlético executive’s remarks were directed at the player’s agent and also at Barcelona. Alvarez, known as La Araña, has already accepted that he will remain with the Madrid club.
A split from Hidalgo would therefore be viewed within the situation as a constructive step from the striker: a possible gesture towards restoring trust with Atlético and its supporters, who are still waiting for a public response from the Argentine after the events of the summer.
