In the European night against Stuttgart, Atlético Madrid found their way back through Julián Álvarez. The Argentine forward, known as La Araña, struck the equaliser in a 1-1 Champions League draw, giving the visitors a response when the contest needed one.
Álvarez’s finish carried particular weight beyond the scoreline. It was his first goal in an official match since the World Cup quarter-finals, ending a wait that had followed him from international football back into the club calendar.
For Atlético, the point came with the familiar feeling of a side refusing to leave a continental tie empty-handed. Stuttgart had their own claim on the evening, but Álvarez’s moment ensured Madrid travelled on with the match level and their Argentine striker back on the scoresheet.
