Juventus Boosted by Cabal and Cambiaso Returns for Cagliari Trip

Juventus return to Serie A with a trip to Sardinia, where Luciano Spalletti’s side will meet Cagliari at the Unipol Domus at 20:45 in the sixth round of the season.

The break has offered Juventus a measure of relief rather than a full restoration. Juan Cabal and Andrea Cambiaso have returned to the group, giving Spalletti two important options again as the championship resumes.

Quick facts

  • Fixture: Cagliari v Juventus
  • Venue: Unipol Domus, Sardinia
  • Kick-off: 20:45
  • Competition: Serie A, matchday six
  • Returns from injury: Juan Cabal and Andrea Cambiaso
  • Unavailable players include Kenan Yildiz, Khéphren Thuram and Manuel Locatelli

There remains, however, a substantial injury and availability list. Kenan Yildiz, Khéphren Thuram, Manuel Locatelli, Jérémie Boga, Arkadiusz Milik, Ekhator and Grabara have not been included for the journey.

Goalkeeper Neto has also been left out. Juventus brought the former Botafogo player in from the free-agent market during the pause, but he must serve a suspension carried over from his time in Brazil.

Riccardo Radu has consequently been recalled to the squad, joining Carlo Pinsoglio and Guglielmo Vicario among the goalkeepers selected by Spalletti.

The defensive group includes Celik, Bremer, Federico Gatti, Lloyd Kelly, Pierre Kalulu, Daniele Rugani, Cambiaso, Jhon Lucumí and Cabal. The return of Cambiaso and Cabal gives Juventus greater depth for a demanding away afternoon.

In midfield, Spalletti can call upon Francisco Conceição, Teun Koopmeiners, Douglas Luiz, Weston McKennie and Sarr. The attacking selection features Randal Kolo Muani, Edon Zhegrova, Alajbegovic, Nick Woltemade and Nico Gonzalez.

For Juventus, the Cagliari match is the first step after the long interruption: an away test in which the returning players must help compensate for a squad still missing several established names.
