Juventus have confirmed that Randal Kolo Muani underwent surgery on Monday 21 September after suffering a fracture to the little finger of his right hand during Sunday’s 2-0 win over Atalanta.
The French forward was injured in the first half of the match, a result that gave Luciano Spalletti’s side another important step in their Serie A campaign. The club moved quickly to assess the problem after the final whistle and said the player’s availability is not expected to be affected.
Successful operation in Turin
Examinations identified a fracture of the proximal phalanx in Kolo Muani’s fifth finger on his right hand. Juventus said an osteosynthesis procedure was therefore required to stabilise the injury.
The operation took place at J|Medical in Turin on Monday afternoon and was carried out by Dr Loris Pegoli. Juventus described the procedure as fully successful.
In a reassuring update, the Bianconeri said Kolo Muani will remain available to the coaching staff, removing an immediate concern after the Atalanta victory.
For Spalletti, the news preserves an attacking option at a point of the season when Juventus will want to build continuity from their win over one of the division’s more demanding opponents. The injury has required medical treatment, but it has not altered Kolo Muani’s place in the squad for the forthcoming fixtures.
