Juventus have been fined €10,000 after a section of supporters turned their backs during the minute’s silence for Sandro Mazzola before the match against Atalanta.
The decision
The Sporting Judge described the group involved as limited when measured against the crowd inside the Allianz Stadium, where around 40,000 spectators attended Juventus’ meeting with Atalanta.
That assessment proved central to the sanction. While photographs appeared to show hundreds of supporters participating in the gesture, the ruling considered their number small as a proportion of the full attendance.
The conduct of Juventus and the rest of the stadium was also taken into account. The club avoided any heavier disciplinary consequence, with the €10,000 penalty closing a difficult moment of remembrance before an important Serie A fixture.
