Juventus have been fined €10,000 after a small group of supporters failed to observe the minute’s silence for Sandro Mazzola before the match against Atalanta.
The decision
The Sporting Judge, Gerardo Mastrandrea, imposed the sanction on the club over events in the first tier of the South Stand. During the tribute, a limited number of Juventus fans turned away from the pitch and sang chants referring to Gaetano Scirea, Andrea Fortunato and Gianni Agnelli.
The ruling noted that the behaviour represented a public failure to respect the silence requested by the FIGC. However, the punishment was reduced in recognition of Juventus’s prompt formal response to the incident and the fact that the rest of the crowd inside the stadium distanced itself from those involved.
In the disciplinary order, Mastrandrea described the conduct as regrettable, while stressing that only a small proportion of the supporters gathered in that section had taken part. The €10,000 fine closes the sporting-justice element of an episode that interrupted a moment intended to honour Mazzola before a significant Serie A afternoon.
