Juventus return to Europe on Thursday evening with a chance to steady their season after the sharp setback suffered against Lazio in Serie A. Luciano Spalletti’s side welcome Rennes, coached by Will Still, to the Allianz Stadium for the third matchday of the Europa League league phase, carrying a perfect record in the competition but a need for a more convincing response on home soil.
Kick-off in Turin is scheduled for 18:45 on 22 October. The match arrives at a useful moment for Juventus: Europe has offered two wins from two, while the domestic defeat to Lazio has underlined how quickly momentum can shift across a long Italian season. Rennes will provide a different kind of examination, but Juventus can use the occasion to restore rhythm before their attention returns fully to Serie A.
Spalletti remains without several important players. Kenan Yildiz, Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram are again unavailable, while Francisco Conceição continues his recovery from a shoulder injury. Edon Zhegrova cannot be selected because he was left out of Juventus’ UEFA squad at the start of the season.
There is, however, a return for Jeremie Boga, who is back in the group for the European fixture. Juventus’ call-up list also includes Bremer, Federico Gatti, Andrea Cambiaso, Teun Koopmeiners, Randal Kolo Muani and Douglas Luiz, offering Spalletti options as he looks to guide the Bianconeri through a demanding stretch of the campaign.
