Juventus’ season has acquired another difficult chapter away from Sunday afternoons. Kamil Grabara, who had only recently marked his Europa League debut against NEC with an assist, has suffered a serious right-knee injury in training and is expected to be unavailable for much of the campaign.
The coach and the club
Medical examinations at J|Medical confirmed that Grabara has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee after sustaining a twisting injury during the afternoon session. The goalkeeper will undergo orthopaedic consultations in the coming days before the treatment plan is finalised, with surgery expected shortly.
The Poland international is Juventus’ deputy to Guglielmo Vicario and is on loan from Wolfsburg. His absence is projected at between six and seven months, leaving the club likely to revisit the goalkeeper market in January.
It is the fourth operation facing a Juventus player in fewer than 20 days, an alarming sequence for a squad already carrying significant absences.
- On 31 August, Kenan Yildiz suffered a fracture to the fifth metatarsal of his left foot. His expected lay-off is around three months.
- Khephren Thuram underwent treatment for chondropathy in his right knee and is set to miss approximately four months.
- Captain Manuel Locatelli required surgery on his lateral meniscus, with an estimated recovery period of six months.
- Grabara is now facing a six-to-seven-month recovery after the rupture of his right anterior cruciate ligament.
For Juventus, the issue is no longer confined to one department. The loss of a reserve goalkeeper may not alter the starting line-up immediately, but it further reduces the room available to manage a long season across domestic and European commitments. Grabara had just begun to make his mark in Turin; now his first campaign with the club will be defined by rehabilitation.
