Kanjinga’s Late Stunner Keeps PSG Level in Arkema Première Ligue Race

Paris Saint-Germain’s women looked set to leave Nantes with their perfect start damaged on Friday night, until Merveille Kanjinga struck in the seventh minute of added time. Her fierce effort from outside the area delivered a 1-0 win and kept the title race level after three Arkema Première Ligue rounds.

Kanjinga rescues PSG at the last

Nantes held Paulo César’s side throughout normal time and appeared close to taking a point, particularly after Paris were reduced to 10 players early in the second half.

  • Marie Estella Lafontaine was dismissed in the 52nd minute after receiving two yellow cards.
  • PSG continued to push despite the numerical disadvantage.
  • Kanjinga broke the deadlock at 90+7 with a powerful long-range strike from beyond the penalty area.
  • The late goal secured a 1-0 away victory for the Parisian side.

Perfect records remain intact

The result gives PSG nine points from three matches, matching OL Lyonnes’ total at the top end of the early standings. The two clubs are the only sides to have won each of their opening three league fixtures.

OL Lyonnes remain first on goal difference, with a +19 record compared with PSG’s +5. For a few hours, Lyon had appeared likely to open a small early gap over their principal championship rivals after PSG’s difficult evening in Nantes.

Marseille can enter the early race

Marseille could join the two unbeaten leaders on nine points on Saturday. Having won their first two matches, Marseille travel to Montpellier for a 21:00 kick-off.
