Lamar Jackson’s status remains unsettled heading into Baltimore’s AFC North meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals, with the Ravens quarterback listed as questionable after working on a limited basis throughout the week.
Jackson has missed Baltimore’s past two games while dealing with a high ankle sprain, leaving Tyler Huntley to start at quarterback. Although the two-time MVP returned to practice, he said Friday that the deciding factor will be whether he can move well enough to help the Ravens win.
“I’m moving in the right direction,” Jackson said after practice. “There is still a period before a decision has to be made, so we’ll see. Hopefully, but I do feel I’m progressing.”
- Lamar Jackson, quarterback: Questionable for Sunday against the Bengals with a high ankle sprain. He was limited in practice during the week.
- Tyler Huntley, quarterback: In line to start again if Jackson is unavailable. Huntley has started Baltimore’s past two games.
Jackson said the swelling in his ankle has improved significantly, but pain and his ability to make his usual movements will determine whether he can play.
“The swelling has gone down a lot,” Jackson said. “It is about pain tolerance and being able to move the way I normally move. If I cannot do that, I cannot help the team or put us in position to win. That would be doing the team a disservice.”
Baltimore is 7-12 in games without Jackson since he became the club’s starting quarterback in Week 11 of the 2018 season. The Ravens are 1-1 without him this year, while Huntley owns a 6-7 record as Baltimore’s starter across his career.
Before the injury, Jackson had put together a strong opening stretch. Through four games in 2026, he completed a career-high 70.8% of his passes for 967 yards, six touchdowns and one interception.
Huntley has appeared in three games this season and matched Jackson’s 70.8% completion rate, throwing for 429 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He led a comeback that ended in an overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5, but Baltimore lost at Cleveland last week.
Week ahead
The Ravens enter Week 7 at 4-2, level with the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers atop the division by record. Cincinnati is 3-2 after its bye week and sits one win behind Baltimore in the AFC North standings.
Jackson had been viewed as having a chance to return in Week 5, but he could now be absent for a third consecutive game. His availability may not be settled until shortly before Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff, when the Bengals visit Baltimore.
