Larkin Scores in Red Wings Return After Trade Request

Dylan Larkin heard a different sound from the Little Caesars Arena crowd on Tuesday night. One week after being booed in Detroit, the Red Wings captain returned to the lineup following his trade request and scored in the opening period of a 5-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators.

Larkin struck 13 minutes into his first game back with Detroit, giving the home side a key early contribution in a night that carried plenty of attention around the captain’s future. The same building that had turned on him last week greeted his return with cheers as the Red Wings skated away with the win.

Detroit finished with five goals against Ottawa and held off the Senators in a high-scoring Atlantic Division matchup. Larkin’s goal marked his first action for the Red Wings since making his request to be moved.
