The next chapter of France’s road to Brazil will begin in Laval. Laurent Bonadei is set to name his squad for the season’s first international break on Thursday 1 October at 14:00, with the French women preparing to face Latvia in a friendly nine days later.
The France head coach will reveal his selection at the French Football Federation headquarters ahead of the match on Saturday 10 October. The fixture in Laval comes with Les Bleues already assured of their place at the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Preparation for Brazil gathers pace
The tournament will run from 24 June to 25 July 2027, while the World Cup draw is scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro on 11 December. Bonadei’s squad will use the coming international windows to build towards that campaign.
France are also expected to play further friendlies in November and December 2026. Their calendar before travelling to Brazil will additionally include selected Women’s Nations League fixtures, with the competition draw due to be held in Nyon on 3 November.
For now, Latvia in Laval is the immediate appointment: the first opportunity of the new season for Bonadei to shape a group with the World Cup already fixed on the horizon.
