Lazio Assess Injury Boost Ahead of Juventus Clash at Allianz Stadium

Lazio have been granted a brief pause after the win over Monza, but attention will turn quickly to Sunday’s demanding visit to Juventus at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.

Rino Gattuso gave his squad two days off following the Monza result. The Biancocelesti are due back at Formello tomorrow, with the coach assessing whether a crowded injury list can begin to clear before the weekend.

Quick facts

  • Lazio return to training at Formello tomorrow.
  • Juventus host Lazio on Sunday in Turin.
  • Mattia Cancellieri is expected to rejoin the group.
  • Adam Marusic and Nicolò Rovella have encouraging prospects of recovery.
  • Albert Gudmundsson is certain to miss the Juventus match.

Gattuso could have as many as three of his four absentees available again, although any returning players are likely to be managed carefully and start from the bench at most.

Cancellieri is expected to come through without significant difficulty and should resume training with the squad tomorrow. Marusic and Rovella are also making progress as their muscle problems move towards resolution.

Gudmundsson remains the exception. The Iceland international must continue wearing a brace on his dislocated shoulder for around another ten days, after which the club will be able to establish a clearer timetable for his return.

The Monza victory has given Lazio a useful platform, but the trip to Juventus will test the depth of Gattuso’s group. The next few sessions at Formello will determine how many experienced options he can take to Turin.
