The Sang et Or must pay a €25,000 penalty for each Ligue 1 fixture while Cahuzac remains without the BEPF, the professional football coaching certificate required for a head coach.
Cahuzac is taking the qualification course this season, but Lens could not meet the conditions needed to avoid the sanction. The club had sought a dispensation from the French technical authorities.

The obstacle is Cahuzac’s recent return to the club. He had not accumulated the required 12 months of service at Lens after leaving for Lorient, where he worked on Pantaloni’s staff for two and a half years.
Lens general director Benjamin Parrot confirmed on Thursday that there would be no workaround. “We cannot comply with the regulations in this case. We will pay the fine,” he said at a press conference.
The financial punishment is limited to domestic league football. It will not be imposed for Lens’s Champions League campaign, including the visit of Sporting Portugal on 13 October in the second round of the league phase.
