Livakovic Set for Barcelona Debut Against Sevilla

Barcelona arrive in Seville with a new face between the posts. Dominik Livakovic will make his first appearance for the Catalan club at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, starting against Sevilla as Joan Garcia begins a three-week recovery period.

Livakovic handed Barcelona debut

The 31-year-old Croatia international has been selected ahead of Wojciech Szczesny, who will begin the match on the bench. It marks a different choice from Barcelona’s recent game against Racing Santander, when Szczesny came on after Joan Garcia was unable to continue.

Livakovic starts behind a side featuring Eric Garcia, Pau Cubarsí, Andreas Christensen and João Cancelo in defence. The midfield contains Rodri, Pedri and Fermín López, while Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Gordon form the attacking unit.

  • Goalkeeper: Dominik Livakovic
  • Defenders: Eric Garcia, Pau Cubarsí, Andreas Christensen, João Cancelo
  • Midfielders: Rodri, Pedri, Fermín López
  • Forwards: Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Gordon

Garcia’s problem worsened against Racing

  1. Joan Garcia had already felt some discomfort before the Racing Santander fixture, experiencing pain in training on the day before the game.
  2. As the issue was initially minor, he was able to start that match.
  3. The pain increased during the contest and, with Barcelona already in a comfortable position, Garcia chose to stop playing.
  4. He is now expected to have three weeks away from action to recover, opening the door for Livakovic’s debut in Andalusia.

For Barcelona, the evening in Seville therefore brings both a temporary change in goal and a first competitive outing in the shirt for Livakovic, with Szczesny available among the substitutes.
