Bayern take control early
Leipzig had the first attacking spell. Antonio Nusa, Rocco Reitz and Willi Orbán all had efforts around the fifth minute, following a David Raum corner. None found the target.
Bayern settled quickly. Harry Kane tested Maarten Vandevoordt in the second minute, then Díaz put a later chance over after Joshua Kimmich had forced a save.
The opening goal arrived in the 12th minute. Kimmich released Díaz with a through ball and the winger finished low into the left corner.
Bayern kept building pressure through Olise, Kane and Pavlovic. Kane narrowly missed from distance before Pavlovic made it 2-0 in the 26th minute, arriving from the left side of the box to convert Díaz’s pass.
Olise added the third eight minutes later. Kane supplied the assist, and Olise drove a left-footed strike from outside the area into the right side of the net. Díaz also brought a strong save from Vandevoordt before the break.
Goals and academy minutes after the interval
Díaz resumed where he had left off. Two minutes into the second half, Kane found him inside the area and the Colombian scored across goal for 4-0.
Kane went close with a shot from outside the box, but he got his goal in the 53rd minute. Nathaniel Brown led a counterattack and Kane finished from close range, low to the goalkeeper’s left.
Bayern then reshaped the side on 59 minutes. Serge Gnabry, Lennart Karl, Josip Stanišić and Tom Bischof replaced Ismael Saibari, Kane, Konrad Laimer and Pavlovic. Leipzig responded with Benjamin Henrichs and Rômulo, after already introducing Tidiam Gomis and Nicolas Seiwald at half-time.
The sixth came in the 69th minute. Bischof and Karl were involved in the sequence before Olise’s effort led to a corner. Olise then supplied Díaz, whose shot from outside the box beat Vandevoordt.
Bayern continued to create chances. Olise, Upamecano and Gnabry were denied, while Karl set up shots for Bischof and Sacha Boey after the latter had replaced Kim Min-jae in the 77th minute.
Leipzig found their lone goal in added time. Maksimovic, introduced for Rocco Reitz, finished Brajan Gruda’s pass from the centre of the box in the 91st minute. Gruda, Seiwald, Raum and Gomis had all tested Bayern late on, but the match had long been decided.
